Ford C. Frick Award

This excellence in baseball broadcasting award was first given in 1978 to recognize the broadcaster for his or her major contributions to baseball.

The Ford C. Frick Award winners are selected by a committee of baseball executives and media personnel and the trophy is given during the annual induction ceremonies at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Current (2003) committee members are Bob Costas, Joe Garagiola, Ernie Harwell, Joe Morgan, Vin Scully and Chuck Thompson.

The winners of the Ford C. Frick Award are not truly "members" of the hall of fame. Their names are inscribed on an exhibit called Scribes and Mikemen outside of the main library at the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
