As the sign over the entrance to
the North Bank proudly announces 'Welcome to Highbury - the Home of Football'. Arsenal played their first competitive game at Highbury against Leicester
Fosse on 6th September 1913, winning 2-1. Ever since that day, Highbury, or as
it is officially called the 'Arsenal Stadium' has been the home of the Gunners.
Although Highbury's capacity now stands at 38,500, on 9th March 1935, 73,295
fans attended a 0-0 draw with Sunderland. This still stands as Arsenal's record
attendance at Highbury to this day.
